For most Maui elopements, I recommend booking:
- 6–9 months in advance for the best vendor availability and stable travel pricing
For larger weddings or venue-based events:
- 12–18 months in advance is ideal, especially during peak wedding season from May–October
Popular vendors like photographers, videographers, and private venues tend to book first. Last-minute elopements are absolutely possible, though some locations — such as Haleakalā National Park — require permits with at least 30 days notice.
Important Reality About Maui BeachesAll beaches in Hawaii are public. Permits do not provide private beach access, and no vendor can legally remove beachgoers from an area. Especially during busy seasons, there may be:
- Tourists nearby
- Multiple ceremonies
- Photographers working simultaneously
Part of my role is helping couples choose the best timing, positioning, and locations to create an intimate experience while setting realistic expectations. If complete privacy is a top priority, a private venue or estate is often the better fit.
